The Samsung Galaxy J7 is one of the company’s most popular midrange phones last year. And its successor is likely nearing its launch.
A new Samsung phone with the model name SM-J720, which is believed to be the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2018), has appeared on the United States’ Federal Communications Commission or FCC website. In addition, the said device has allegedly received Bluetooth and Wi-Fi certification, based on images taken from its FCC documentation.

The hardware and screen dimensions of the Galaxy J7 (2018) are listed on the site as well. The diagonal measurement of the touch panel is 140mm. Thus, it will likely come in at 5.5 inches, with a traditional aspect ratio of 16:9. The original Galaxy J7 had a 5.5-inch AMOLED panel that measures 139.5mm diagonally. Dimensions aside, the 2018 edition will almost certainly have either a 1,920 x 1,080 or 1,280 x 720 resolution.

Specs-wise, a Samsung Galaxy J7 (2018) variant with the model name SM-J720F has been previously spotted on Geekbench with an Exynos 7885 chipset running at 1.6GHz under the hood, alongside 3GB of RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo.

The chip includes eight CPU cores — two performance Cortex-A73 cores and six smaller Cortex-A53 cores for basic smartphone tasks like browsing social media and shooting emails around. Samsung’s Exynos 7885 has been spotted before, inside a unit believed to be the Galaxy A5 (2018).
The Korean electronics giant has yet to reveal the announcement dates for this year’s Galaxy refresh models, but curious information trickling in through the web hints that the wait will end sooner rather than later. We’re not sure if the it’s landing in the Philippines, though, seeing that the 2017 version was not offered here.
