There are currently nine official Xiaomi stores in the Philippines, with the most recent ones that opened being the Lucky Chinatown branch and Mi Kiosk at SM Bicutan in the southern end of Metro Manila.

There are three more opening this year. We at Revü just got word that Xiaomi will soon have retail locations at the Ayala-owned Marquee Mall in Pampanga, Robinsons Manila in Manila, and Centris Station in Quezon City. The addition of these stores will bump up the number of official Xiaomi retail locations to 12.

Curiously, the information we received left out Cebu and Davao, two major metropolitan areas in the Philippines that were said to open Xiaomi stores of their own last year. Well, it’s already 2019, and we still haven’t heard from Xiaomi directly or Grimalkin Corporation, its official local distributor, about the likelihood of that happening anytime within the next few months.

Which is a shame, for many reasons. For one, customers outside of the Philippine capital still have no way to buy official Xiaomi products offline, leaving them with Lazada and Shopee as their only options, albeit these are online merchants that usually take a while to ship to provinces.

In the past, Xiaomi store openings coincided with the launch of new phones for the Philippine market. The most recent example of this is the Mi 9, which debuted on the same date as the Xiaomi store at the Lucky Chinatown mall. Will the Redmi Y3 (or S3?) also launch on the same day as one of the retail locations mentioned above? We’ll find out soon enough.
