Xiaomi called it “Lite but full of might.”

The Xiaomi 13 Lite joined the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 on Day 0 of the Mobile World Congress 2023 trade show in Barcelona, Spain, where the series was introduced to the global market.

Imaging is still at its core, promising to deliver great portrait shots and extended photography options for “young smartphone users who are passionate about capturing unique selfies, stories, and scenes.”

There are two sensors inside the pill-shaped cutout at the top of the Xiaomi 13 Lite’s screen — a 32-megapixel main camera paired with an 8-megapixel depth-sensing one. Dynamic Framing detects the number of people in the frame and automatically adjusts the field of view and zoom in or out as appropriate. Some of the other features the world’s No. 3 smartphone brand offers social-media content creators are Selfie Zoom, Pocket Mirror, and Xiaomi Selfie Glow.

Xiaomi has equipped the Lite model with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 5G chipset to handle the phone’s processing tasks. The device also comes with a 6.55-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 main rear sensor, 67-watt fast-charging support, and Android 12-based MIUI 14.

As its name implies, the Xiaomi 13 Lite is literally light, coming in at 171g. Amazingly, it’s just 7.23mm thin, even with a 4,500mAh battery.

When will it be available, and how much should you shell out to own one? Xiaomi says the newly announced midranger will be available from March 8 with a starting price of €499 (roughly P29,261 or $527). It has revealed the Xiaomi 13 series’ launch date for the Philippine market, too, but it remains to be seen if the Lite variant will be joining the Pro and non-Pro versions on that day.
