The handset lineup that brought us the world’s first-ever retractable portrait lens on a smartphone is now available for purchase in the Philippines.

The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro and Tecno Phantom X2 are up for sale on Shopee and at retail stores nationwide, carrying suggested retail prices of P42,999 (around $783) and P32,999 ($601), respectively. Each purchase comes with the following freebies for a limited time (online, until March 7; offline, until the 9th): backpack, P3,000 ($55) gift card for SM stores, VIP service card, and DITO SIM card.

The Pro model is offered in Stardust Grey and Mars Orange colors, with the latter sporting a vegan-leather back. The Phantom X2, on the other hand, comes in black and silver options.

We weren’t able to join the series‘ local launch because we were in Barcelona, Spain, for Mobile World Congress 2023, but we did get to have our hands on the Pro version at MWC. You can have a look at the actual unit in the short video above.

The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro’s retractable portrait lens — enabled when you choose Portrait mode in the camera app — allows the main camera to capture convincing portrait shots with some good background separation. The vanilla version skips the said feature to hit a lower price range.

Both devices are equipped with a 6.8-inch curved AMOLED display, a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset inside to deliver flagship-grade performance, a 5,160mAh battery with support for 45-watt fast charging, and a user interface that’s based on Android 12.
