The HONOR foldable concept phone that made heads turn at the IFA 2023 technology show in Berlin, Germany, is finally a commercial product.

The HONOR V Purse has been launched in China, with the 16GB/256GB model going for ¥5,999 (roughly P46,681 in Philippine pesos and $822 in U.S. dollars) and the version with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage priced at ¥6,599 (P51,353 or $904).

Intended for the fashionable set, the HONOR V Purse is called as such because it looks like a handbag, what with interchangeable vegan-leather straps that allow you to carry the device like a regular purse and interactive Always On Display wallpapers.

Some custom AOD styles are a product of the former Huawei sub-brand’s collaboration with folk such as Burberry menswear creative director Bram Van Diepen. Think wallpapers that are made to look like a variety of handbag designs and textures and react to your touches and movements, courtesy of integrated sensors that consist of an accelerometer to help track motion more accurately in real time. When folded, the HONOR V Purse’s two sides can have different displays.

This foldable adopts an outward folding design, just like last year’s Huawei Mate Xs 2, with the screen that wraps around the unit measuring 7.71 inches. It’s ultralight at 214g and ultrathin at 4.3mm. Even when closed, it’s only 8.6mm thick. And HONOR says the hinge is durable enough to withstand the same 400,000 folds as the HONOR Magic V2.

Powering the HONOR V Purse is a 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G processor. The smartphone likewise features a a 50-megapixel dual camera as the main imaging system, an 8-megapixel front sensor, a 4,500mAh battery with support for 35-watt fast charging, and Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2. It’s available in gold, blue, and black shades.
