Huawei has announced a smartwatch series that the company says improves on past iterations and is the culmination of over eight years of research and development.

(Update, October 6: The Huawei Watch GT 4 is now up for preorder in the Philippines with around $111 worth of freebies!)

The new Huawei Watch GT 4 has two models — the bigger version has a 46mm octagonal body, whereas the 41mm one with a “pendant” design retains the circular aesthetic of previous generations — and will be available in Europe beginning October 4. The 46mm watch body starts at €249.99 (around P15,103 or $266), while the base 41mm variant is priced at €229.99 (P13,895 or $245). Huawei will ship a variety of stainless-steel watch bodies and strap designs, so the cost will vary depending on the combination of those options.

The most affordable 46mm and 41mm versions sport a black fluroelastomer (read: rubber) band. Customers can also opt for a calf-leather strap or a Milanese bracelet with a magnetic clasp for the 41mm model, while the top-end 46mm variant comes with a silver steel bracelet.

The company has yet to announce a local release date for the Huawei Watch GT 4, but its local arm has already teased that the series “is making its grand entrance in the Philippines soon.” Locally, last year’s 42mm Huawei Watch GT 3 was priced from P9,999 ($176); the 46mm version cost P12,999 ($229) at launch.

The 46mm Watch GT 4 sports a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with 326 PPI, while the 41mm unit packs a 1.32-inch screen — also an AMOLED affair — but this time, the pixel density is a little higher at 352 dots per inch.

Huawei’s latest smartwatch upgrades to the TruSeen 5.5+ algorithm, which relies on a fresh set of sensors and AI-powered deep learning to deliver more accurate and detailed fitness tracking and health data. Additionally, the Watch GT 4 introduces improved LED sensors for PPG-based arrhythmia detection. An arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat, is a problem with the rate or rhythm of your heartbeat.

You also get a new feature called Sleep Breathing Analysis. This will help users detect signs of sleep apnea, which could prevent your body from getting enough oxygen and cause you to snore loudly or feel tired after a full night’s sleep.
