Xiaomi is getting ready to launch a model from its volume-driver sub-brand in the Philippines.

(Update, September 21: Here’s how much the Redmi 12 is in the Philippines!)

The 4G version of the Redmi 12 is confirmed to go official in the country September 20. It succeeds the Redmi 10 from 2021 and comes from the series that achieved a first-day sale of 300,000 units in India recently.

Going after the style-conscious crowd as can be seen in the hashtag used, the Redmi 12 flaunts a glass back design and seamlessly integrated cameras. There are three colors to choose from: Polar Silver, Sky Blue, and Midnight Black.

The smartphone sports a 6.79-inch FHD+ display with up to 90Hz refresh rate and indicators that should help protect your eyes — SGS Low Blue Light Certification and Reading Mode 3.0. It’s IP53 dust- and splash-resistant, comes with a 5,000mAh battery that supports USB-C fast charging up to 18 watts, and packs a 50-megapixel triple camera on the back and an 8-megapixel one up front. You’ll also get MIUI 14 based on Android 13 out of the box.

Unlike the the 5G variant which is built around the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 platform, the Redmi 12 uses a MediaTek Helio G88 4G chipset. There are several memory configurations of the device, but we expect the 8GB/256GB version to arrive in the Philippines, at least initially. It should be priced under P10,000 (under $177).
