In our review of the vivo V29 5G, we wrote that “the successor to the vivo V27 5G stays in familiar territory for the most part,” offering strong camera performance, particularly when it comes to shooting daytime scenes and portrait-style pictures with its front and rear cameras.

The vivo V29 5G also comes with a curved AMOLED display and a capable 5G chipset in an attractive, water-resistant design that gives off flagship vibes. One of the biggest positives on the phone’s specs list is, of course, the company’s improved Aura Portrait Camera with the Aura Light 2.0 ring light, which is brighter and more useful than the previous generation.

Aura Light 2.0 introduces a new color-temperature slider that allows you to shoot portraits with a warmer or cooler tone depending on your preference. Curious to see it in action? Watch our video below to find out and let us know in the comments if you think vivo should bring this feature to upcoming devices, including future V series models. Personally, we think it’s better than the standard flash you see on other smartphones.

Other highlights of the vivo V29 5G include an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance and a 4,600mAh dual-cell battery that supports fast charging up to 80 watts using the brand’s proprietary FlashCharge solution. Based on our testing, the phone can be charged from zero to full in about 50 minutes, or 45% after 15 minutes plugged in, giving you more than enough battery power to get you through the rest of the day if you charge it during your snack break.

Locally, the vivo V29 5G is available in Magic Maroon and Starry Purple colors, with the latter sporting a glossy finish, as opposed to the matte glass of the Magic Maroon version. It carries a suggested retail price of P24,999, or roughly $440 converted, in the Philippines for the 256GB storage variant with 12GB of physical RAM. The top-end 512GB version, on the other hand, is priced at P26,999 ($476), making it a no-brainer to spend a little more for twice the storage space.
