ICT distributor VSTECS Phils., Inc. — formerly MSI-ECS Phils., Inc. — has been appointed as the official distributor of the Nintendo Switch in the Philippines, following years of uncertainty with regard to the popular video-game console’s local distributorship.

Previously, the console was sold at Toy Kingdom, Toys “R” Us, as well as DataBlitz and other popular video-game store chains in the Philippines. Obviously, it’s not privy to us where those chains got their stocks, but we’d bet the house that they were purchased from various sources. Now, with VSTECS onboard, things have to change.

Currently, the OLED model of the Nintendo Switch is priced at P15,195 or roughly $276 converted at DataBlitz. That’s surprisingly cheaper than the Switch’s suggested retail price of $349.99 (P19,295) in the United States.

It remains to be seen how this will affect the console’s pricing at local retail, but from what we’ve seen across the tech industry, the presence of an official distributor usually leads to healthier inventories and wider visibility, not to mention — and this is important — more stable prices and better after-sales support.

Speaking of which, VSTECS has also announced that it has been named as the designated service center for the Nintendo Switch in the Philippines. “This means that consumers can rely on VSTECS and its affiliate service centers nationwide for customer support and maintenance services,” the company said in a press statement.

VSTECS Phils. Inc., the leading ICT distributor in the country, is delighted to announce its recent appointment as the official distributor of Nintendo Switch in the Philippines.

Nintendo Switch's adaptability enables users to switch between TV mode, Handheld mode, and Tabletop mode, offering a various gaming experience. Whether enjoyed solo for personal gaming or shared among families and friends, the Nintendo Switch is the choice of interactive entertainment.

This distributor appointment is poised to enhance Nintendo Switch's market visibility and accessibility. Leveraging the expansive retail channel network of VSTECS, encompassing consumer and electronic stores, IT retailers, gaming and multimedia outlets, as well as Nintendo Official Stores at local online shops, this initiative aims to amplify the reach of Nintendo Switch, making it readily available to a diverse and widespread audience.

As part of this distribution appointment, Filipino consumers can now enjoy wide variety of Nintendo Switch games, including Super Mario Bros. Wonder and the newly launched Super Mario RPG.
In addition to being the official distributor, VSTECS Phils. is also the designated service center for Nintendo Switch in the Philippines. This means that consumers can rely on VSTECS and its affiliate service centers nationwide for customer support and maintenance services, further solidifying the commitment to gaming experience.

"Our distributor appointment from Nintendo is a significant step towards making Nintendo Switch a household name in the Philippines. Our extensive channel network and market reach amplify our ability to deliver the gaming products to a broader audience," says Jimmy Go, president and CEO, VSTECS Phils.
