More than a month ago, TECNO Mobile announced its first clamshell foldable smartphone at an event in Singapore. It’s kind of a big deal, like the TECNO Phantom V Fold before it, since the TECNO Phantom V Flip 5G is one of the most — if not the most — affordable foldables around.

Since then, there have been speculations as to when the phone would arrive in the Philippines, and now we can finally confirm that the TECNO Phantom V Flip 5G will be exclusively available on the brand’s official Shopee store beginning November 9.

Even better, we can share with you its launch price — just P29,999 or roughly $528 converted — but you can get it for as low as P23,999 ($422), a much sweeter deal especially if you consider that you’re getting a free TECNO Phantom Watch smartwatch out of it, too. You’ll need to act fast, though; the discount is good until November 11 only. Of course, installment options are also available via SPayLater.

A premium flip phone with modern specs for under P30,000 ($528) sounds like a steal, but we’ll reserve our judgement for now.

If you missed our launch article, the TECNO Phantom V Flip 5G features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED foldable display with FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate that can go as high as 120Hz and a 1.32-inch circular cover screen that’s also powered by AMOLED technology and offers 800 nits of peak brightness.

The external display is surrounded by a pair of cameras — one with a 64-megapixel main image sensor and another that packs a 13-megapixel sensor and an ultrawide lens. Obviously, you can use the rear-facing cameras for selfies, with the outer screen acting as your viewfinder, but you’re also free to use the 32-megapixel camera embedded in the punch-hole foldable panel.

A 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 8050 5G chipset alongside 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage keeps things chugging along and offers similar performance to the Dimensity 1300 and Dimensity 1200 SoCs. There’s a 4,000mAh battery inside as well, and TECNO says you can charge it to 50% in just 15 minutes using the included 45-watt fast charger.
