Steam Deck OLED now available at DataBlitz PH stores

Just a month after its announcement, Valve’s upgraded Steam Deck model is now available in the Philippines, despite the American hardware and software firm not having any presence here.

DataBlitz has just announced that the OLED variant of the Steam Deck — the Steam Deck OLED, if you will — is now available in stores nationwide as well as online through the company’s official online store, with the handheld gaming PC starting at P39,995 (roughly $716 converted) for the 512GB storage version. The 1TB Steam Deck OLED, on the other hand, is priced at P49,995 ($895).

In the United States, the updated Steam Deck retails from $549 (P30,665), while the 1TB model is selling for $649 (P36,250). Keep in mind those prices don’t include taxes, which vary depending on the state where you made your purchase.

That said, the Steam Deck OLED’s local availability through a reputable retailer is good news for the Philippine market, since it will no doubt affect the pricing strategy of scalpers who were hoping to make a quick sale before today. Not to mention, other big-name retailers in the country may very well follow DataBlitz’s lead when it comes to pricing their Steam Deck OLED units.

DataBlitz’s announcement

In case you missed Valve’s big announcement back in November, the Steam Deck OLED offers a larger and better screen, up to 50% longer battery life, and refreshed internals compared with the original Steam Deck. But to be clear, it’s also not faster than the first-gen model that came out last year.

Hardly surprising since the OLED variant is not meant to replace the original, with Valve apparently sticking with its plan not to launch a successor for the next few years. If anything, the Steam Deck OLED is everything the first one should have been.
