OPPO urges consumers to use its newly launched smartphone without worry, as the device is said to be as durable as rugged phones go — even without looking, well, rugged.

The OPPO A3 Pro has debuted in China as “the first fully waterproof mobile phone to pass IP69, IP68, and IP66 testing.” Which means the A3 Pro is not only protected against dust but also the most forceful high-temperature water jets, steam cleaning, and intense washdowns. It can also be used even after soaking it in water for 30 minutes.

With OPPO’s new Crystal Shield Glass on the back, combined with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and a 360-degree anti-fall structure, the device was able to get the Swiss SGS Gold Label five-star drop-resistance certification for a complete device and pass China’s military-standard impact test.

The brand is confident in the durability of its latest product that it’s offering a year of screen protection, a year of water-damage protection, and four years of battery protection for those who will buy the OPPO A3 Pro before April 25.

The 6.7-inch curved OLED display hurdled China’s National Eye Engineering Center test. Its battery is rated at 5,000mAh and supports 67 watts of SUPERVOOC charging. The 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. A 64-megapixel dual-rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing one take care of imaging. And the user interface is based on Android 14.

In China, the OPPO A3 Pro is released April 19 with the following price tags:

• 8GB + 256GB: ¥1,999 (roughly P15,648 in Philippine pesos and $276 in U.S. dollars)
• 12GB + 256GB: ¥2,199 (P17,213 or $304)
• 12GB + 512GB: ¥2,499 (P19,557 or $345)
