The successor to last year’s highly popular Infinix GT 30 Pro is almost here, and it’s shaping up to be a sequel that could change the budget gaming landscape.
Infinix has officially announced the global launch date for the Infinix GT 50 Pro, so go ahead and circle April 24 on your calendars.
If you recall, the GT 30 Pro debuted in the Philippines last June with a compelling starting price of just ₱13,999 (around $233) for the base 8GB/256GB variant. Expectations are high for the sequel. Fortunately, the upcoming Infinix GT 50 Pro is expected to arrive packing some firsts for its segment.
The headline feature here is the new cooling setup. The smartphone will boast a liquid-cooling system that’s visible through the back panel — a bold design choice reminiscent of nubia’s REDMAGIC 11 Pro.
To understand why this matters, it helps to know how mobile liquid cooling works. Unlike a built-in mechanical fan that actively forces hot air out of the chassis, a liquid cooling system, which typically integrates a vapor chamber, relies on a specialized phase-change liquid.
As the phone’s processor heats up, the liquid turns into vapor, travels to cooler areas of the unit to dissipate the heat, and condenses back into a liquid. It’s a continuous, passive loop that pulls heat away from the chipset. In the Infinix GT 50 Pro, this should help prevent overheating during resource-intensive tasks, effectively staving off frame-rate throttling during marathon gaming sessions.
Speaking of cooling, we’ve come across a few unboxing videos suggesting the Transsion sub-brand will offer a special “Cooling Edition” of the handset. This bundle includes a magnetic external cooling fan that clips right onto the back of the device via a plastic case, alongside a magnetic charger. Combine the internal liquid cooling loop moving heat outward with an active external fan drawing that heat away from the body, and you’ve got a dream setup for mobile gamers.
To sweeten the pot, the GT 50 Pro will likely retain Infinix’s beloved bypass-charging feature. For the uninitiated, bypass charging allows you to plug the smartphone into the wall and route power directly to the motherboard, bypassing the battery entirely. This prevents the battery from generating excess heat while you play and significantly extends its overall lifespan.
Aesthetics haven’t been ignored, either. The transparent back panel will feature customizable LED lights, allowing you to tweak colors and lighting effects to your liking. Based on current teasers, this GT will be offered in silver and red colorways.
Recent leaks suggest a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 Ultimate processor under the hood, paired with 12GB of physical RAM. They also point to the handset running Android 16 right out of the box.
On the surface, Infinix has confirmed a few more interesting specs. You’re looking at a flat AMOLED display sporting a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. For tactile control, the GT 50 Pro sports pressure-sensitive shoulder buttons — dubbed “Pressure-Sense GT Triggers” — positioned on the right edge. Finally, the imaging setup features a dual rear camera unit housed in a rectangular island, right next to an LED flash.
