Insta360 is leaning hard into the nostalgic camera craze. The company has launched the Insta360 GO 3S Retro Bundle, a special-edition package that outfits its pill-shaped 4K action camera with a top-down optical viewfinder, transforming the wearable device into a waist-level point-and-shoot.
The standout hardware is the new Retro Viewfinder accessory. Instead of relying on the standard Action Pod and its modern LCD touchscreen, users slot the GO 3S into a magnetized housing and frame shots by looking down into an optical finder. It mimics the shooting experience of a vintage film camera. The front panel of the action cam itself acts as the shutter: A single press takes a photo, while a double press starts and stops video recording.
To lean further into the analog aesthetic, the accessory features a built-in NFC tag. Tapping a smartphone to the viewfinder pulls up the Insta360 app, where users can bypass modern editing tools in favor of exclusive film-emulating color profiles and vintage border watermarks. The bundle also includes a clip-on battery pack, which is practically mandatory for a day out, as it bumps the camera’s standalone 310mAh capacity to just over 700mAh.
