It feels like we just wrapped up our time reviewing the Reno15 Series 5G, but OPPO is already pushing the reset button. The OPPO Reno16 and OPPO Reno16 Pro have officially launched in China, and the brand is aiming straight for the creator crowd with a stacked camera system, built-in generative AI, and a design that looks like it belongs in a sci-fi movie.

If your screen time is dominated by TikTok and Instagram, the spec sheet here reads like a wishlist. The best part? OPPO didn’t hobble the standard model this year.

Both the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro rock a 200-megapixel main sensor, flanked by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom. The main point of divergence is stabilization: The Pro model gets a micro-gimbal system built directly into the main camera. OPPO is heavily marketing this as a “super stable” livestreaming tool designed to keep footage smooth and natural, even in less-than-ideal lighting. Up front, a 50-megapixel selfie shooter handles your daily vlogging needs.

Because it’s 2026, artificial intelligence is baked right into the chassis. Both smartphones run ColorOS 16 and feature a dedicated physical AI button on the side frame. A quick click triggers instant on-screen note-taking, text summarization, and schedule generation. It’s a tactile nod to productivity for a generation that lives on their mobile phones.

So pretty!

Aesthetically, the Reno line has always been about standing out. The new Starry Night colorway uses what the company calls a “3D ice-transparent suspension technology,” giving the back panel a naked-eye 3D floating effect. It is also surprisingly rugged. The devices boast an IP69K rating, so they can easily survive a blast from a high-pressure, high-temperature water jet.

Under the hood, you are getting flagship-tier silicon. The OPPO Reno16 Pro runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500s, geared for high-frame-rate gaming, while the base model uses the Dimensity 8550 SUPER. Both feature 120Hz OLED displays, with the Pro stretching out to a 6.78-inch panel and the OPPO Reno16 sitting at a more compact 6.32 inches. Rounding out the hardware, the more premium variant is kept alive by a 7,000mAh battery with wireless charging, while the standard Reno16 houses a 6,700mAh cell.

In China, the official configurations and prices are as follows:
