When HUAWEI took over Bangkok last May for its Now Is Your Spark global launch, attendees expected devices like the sleek HUAWEI WATCH FIT 5 to dominate the conversation. Instead, the undeniable breakout star of the show was a gadget built for grade schoolers, and it’s something that looks less like a standard fitness tracker and more like standard-issue field gear from Spy Kids.
That scene-stealing wearable is the HUAWEI WATCH KIDS X1. Officially arriving in the Philippines on June 30, the smartwatch hands children an Inspector Gadget-style dual camera setup while giving parents near-omniscient digital telemetry.
The HUAWEI WATCH KIDS X1 hits Philippine store shelves in two vibrant colorways — Breezy Blue and Candy Pink, both featuring breathable silicone straps — for a standard retail price of ₱15,999 (roughly $261). However, early buyers can get it for an introductory promo price of ₱13,999 ($228) starting June 23 via a ₱2,000 ($33) voucher redeemable across Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, the HUAWEI Online Store, and physical HUAWEI Experience Stores nationwide.
To sweeten the deal, the company is bundling every purchase with a free one-year accidental damage protection plan and a complimentary battery replacement service worth ₱1,599 ($26), alongside flexible installment options starting at ₱1,089 ($18) per month via Home Credit or ₱1,167 ($19) per month via credit card.

Flippable screens and dual HD cameras
The most objectively wild feature of the HUAWEI WATCH KIDS X1 is its mechanical housing. While it sports an industry-first 1.82-inch horizontal AMOLED screen designed specifically for smaller wrists, the entire watch body can be unlatched from its silicone cradle, flipped upright, and rotated a full 360 degrees.
The form factor changes because the camera means business. The wearable houses a 5-megapixel front camera equipped with a 110-degree ultra-wide-angle lens, letting kids squeeze their entire playground circle into a single selfie, paired with a sharp 13-megapixel rear HD camera. Because the technology giant treats mobile imaging seriously regardless of the user’s age, the software includes a multiframe noise reduction algorithm and a dedicated Night Mode. It also packs 32GB of internal storage in the standard version, holding thousands of photos that can be shared with family using One-Tap Photo Sharing.
Hyper-tracking, powered by AI
Of course, a smartwatch for minors is rarely purchased for the child; it is bought by the adult paying the cellular bill. On the safety and surveillance front, HUAWEI pulled no punches.
The smartwatch uses dual-band GNSS — supporting GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS — for pinpoint outdoor tracking, alongside dual-band Wi-Fi positioning to locate a child inside complex, multistory indoor spaces like crowded shopping malls. The brand paired this hardware with its Converged Positioning Algorithm 2.0, an AI software feature that actively learns and recognizes the physical places a child frequents over time to sharpen location accuracy.
Through the companion FamCare app, parents can set up customizable safe and danger zones, receiving instant notifications if their child wanders near a restricted area. A dedicated School Guard feature delivers automated push alerts the moment kids safely arrive at or leave school and home. In an actual emergency, pressing the HUAWEI WATCH KIDS X1’s side button five times triggers an SOS sequence that automatically dials family members in order.
Even the wearer’s emotional state gets digitized. A built-in PPG optical heart rate sensor translates a child’s pulse into visual emotion icons, allowing parents to monitor stress or excitement levels in the app’s growth section.
Sensible smartwatch essentials
As an actual everyday wearable, the HUAWEI WATCH KIDS X1 covers all the necessary lifestyle bases. It carries an IPX8 and IPX9 swimming-grade water resistance rating (up to 2 ATM), meaning it should survive everything from vigorous handwashing to splashing in the pool or beach adventures.
Keeping the unit alive is an 850mAh battery rated for up to 32 hours of use. When it inevitably hits the red line right before practice, fast-charging tech powers the battery up to 50% in just 20 minutes.
For the kids themselves, there is a tightly guarded dose of socialization. A Shake to Add Friends feature allows users to physically shake their wrists to connect with nearby HUAWEI WATCH KIDS X1 owners. However, to maintain a secure environment, the companion app forces a parent to approve all new friend requests before any communication occurs.
