The smartphone landscape is getting a little more playful. OPPO is gearing up to launch the OPPO Reno16 Series 5G in the Philippines, bringing high-resolution camera systems, modular hardware, and a heavy dose of K-pop energy courtesy of global ambassadors BABYMONSTER. The entire lineup officially hits local shelves on Aug. 7 at exactly 12 a.m.

We actually have the phones with us in the studio right now. Instead of the usual iterative spec-bump routine, the company is leaning hard into mobile photography and quirky accessories. While we still don’t know how much they will sell for in the country, we know from the global debut that the OPPO Reno16 F 5G starts at ฿15,999 (roughly ₱25,700 or $480), the standard OPPO Reno16 5G is priced from ฿19,999 (₱32,200 or $600), and the OPPO Reno16 Pro 5G costs from ฿26,999 (₱43,500 or $810).

Here is a closer look at the upcoming lineup.

Heavy on the cameras

The focus here is the imaging hardware. The lineup is equipped with lenses built for heavy content creation.

The OPPO Reno16 Pro 5G leads the pack with a 200-megapixel main camera, designed to let you aggressively crop into shots without losing detail. The standard Reno16 and Reno16 F keep things sharp with a 50-megapixel main shooter.

All three models share a dedicated 50-megapixel telephoto portrait camera with a 3.5x optical zoom. It acts as a classic 85mm equivalent lens, which is the sweet spot for isolating subjects with natural background bokeh. For the vloggers and selfie crowd, OPPO has also standardized a large 50-megapixel ultra-wide front-facing camera across the entire series, essentially eliminating the need for a selfie stick.

On the software side, Android 16-based ColorOS 16 introduces Pop Cam, a feature that bakes retro film simulations — like Digicam, Light Leak, and Instant Film — directly into the native camera app. There is also an AI Remix Collage tool, which lets you cut out subjects from photos or videos to create layered, moving sticker stories.

The quirky OPPO Bubble Mag E-Badge

Easily another interesting piece of hardware in this launch is the OPPO Bubble Mag E-Badge. Instead of building a secondary screen into the back of the device, the brand created a detachable 1.73-inch AMOLED magnetic accessory.

Snap it to the back of any OPPO Reno16 Series 5G phone, and it acts as a real-time rear viewfinder, letting you see exactly how you look while using the rear cameras. When you aren’t shooting, it doubles as a digital badge that can display custom static images, motion photos, or short video clips. It is a clever, modular solution to a problem that usually requires buying a bulky dual-screen foldable.

Configurations and preorder promo perks

The lineup brings a unified design language to the table. Expect an ultra-slim aerospace-grade aluminum frame featuring a 3D Pop Planet back panel that uses HoloVerse 3D technology to create a shifting physical shadow effect. They are also rugged, with all models carrying an IP69K rating against dust and high-pressure water.

Here is exactly how the configurations break down for the Philippine market:

  • OPPO Reno16 F 5G: Comes with 16GB (8GB + 8GB extended) of RAM. The 128GB variant is available in Pop White and Twilight Violet, while the 256GB storage option is an online-exclusive in Dream Purple.
  • OPPO Reno16 5G: Packs 16GB (8GB + 8GB extended) of RAM and 256GB of storage, available in Pop White and Twilight Violet.
  • OPPO Reno16 Pro 5G: The powerhouse of the bunch features 24GB (12GB + 12GB extended) of RAM and 256GB of storage, available in Pop White.

Early buyers are getting a solid haul of freebies during the preorder window from Aug. 7 to Aug. 20. Every purchase comes with fixed gifts including the OPPO Enco Buds3 Pro (valued at ₱2,299 or $37) and one-year OPPO Care for water and screen protection (worth ₱2,999 or $49). Buyers also get to pick an optional gift: either a BABYMONSTER Limited Edition Drawstring Ita Bag (₱1,170 or $19) or a Clear Charm Phone Case (₱1,260 or $20). The brand is also throwing in three months of Google AI Pro with 5TB of cloud storage.

Keep an eye out for our full review, where we will put that camera array and the rest of the Reno16 Series 5G through its paces.
