What you’re actually getting for the cash

At ₱54,999 ($948) and up, the HUAWEI Pura 90s Series sits right in the pocket of today’s expected flagship pricing. To actually deliver on that premium, the company is banking on its claim as the “King of Imaging” — bringing serious camera overkill and the return of native 5G connectivity to ensure you get what you pay for.

Leading the charge is the top-tier HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max, which houses a huge 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens built on a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor with hardware-level CIPA 7.0 stabilization. It is engineered to keep handheld zoom shots sharp and steady without turning into a blurry mess. That system is anchored by a 50-megapixel primary camera featuring a 3-in-1 Ultra Lighting Prism that delivers up to 16 EV of dynamic range for high-contrast scenes. Both devices also share HUAWEI’s 2nd Gen True-to-Colour engine alongside editing tools like AI De-Glare for erasing window reflections and AI Move for seamlessly repositioning objects in a frame.

Crucially, the new lineup lands with full 5G support out of the box — addressing a major connectivity hurdle that hampered previous international releases — offering smoother signal recovery when exiting weak-coverage areas and quicker real-world upload speeds.

Powering the smartphones is a 6,000mAh battery built for long days of heavy shooting and navigation. The Pro Max version supports 100-watt wired charging, hitting 85% in 30 minutes, and 80-watt wireless charging, while the standard model tops out at 66-watt wired and 50-watt wireless speeds.

Up front, the Pro Max screen is wrapped in a new anti-reflective, scratch-resistant Kunlun Glass designed to cut display glare and resist scratches.

Visually, HUAWEI went all-in on vacation-inspired aesthetics. The Pro Max debuts an industry-first dual-tone gradient midframe in Orange Ocean, alongside Blazing Purple, Blush Gold, and Graphite Black. The regular Pro offers more playful beverage-themed shades, including Orange Soda, Guava Soda, Coconut White, and Mulberry Black.

On the software front, both phones run EMUI with localized Celia AI voice controls and native cross-OS file sharing for seamless transfers to iOS devices. Essential daily apps — from Google Workspace to local digital banking platforms like BDO, BPI, and GCash — are available via AppGallery.

We’ve already been daily-driving the HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max and HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro for a month across street shoots in Manila and during its official global showcase in Kuala Lumpur.
