Xiaomi is going all-in on sheer endurance with its latest release. The REDMI Note 17 Series has officially landed in the Philippines, bringing four new smartphones to the local market. Leading the charge is the lineup’s very first Pro Max entry — the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, which we just reviewed — a device that crams a huge 10,000mAh battery into a surprisingly manageable chassis.
If you are tired of constantly hunting for wall outlets or lugging around power banks heavier than your actual phone, Xiaomi is betting big that this is the series you’ve been waiting for.

- The preorder window (Sept. 8-Oct. 1): You can secure your unit with a ₱500 down payment to slash up to ₱2,000 off the standard retail price. Preordering also unlocks model-specific freebies: The Pro models get the REDMI Watch 6 Active valued at ₱2,599, while the non-Pro variants receive the REDMI Buds 8 Lite worth ₱1,499. You also get a VIP Card loaded with exclusive warranty services valued at ₱40,000, plus an SB19 poster and photocards.
- The claiming and open-sales window (Oct. 2-11): Customers picking up their preorders or buying during this window will receive the REDMI Watch 6 Active (for Pro units) or the Buds 8 Lite (for standard models), alongside the VIP Card and SB19 merch.
- The post-launch window (Oct. 12-31): If you arrive a little late to the party, you still get goodies. Purchases during this period include a free Xiaomi Backpack worth ₱2,000, the VIP Card, and the SB19 poster and photocards.

How much you’ll pay for the REDMI Note 17 Series now
The battery heavyweight
The defining characteristic of this generation is brute-force endurance. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G wields a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery that Xiaomi claims will confidently push through three days of use. When it finally does tap out, there’s a 100W fast charger in the box to get you back on your feet quickly. It even supports 27W wired reverse charging, turning the smartphone into a legitimate power bank for your other gadgets.
The rest of the REDMI Note 17 Series doesn’t slouch, either. The Pro 5G houses an 8,340mAh cell with 67W charging, while the standard Note 17 5G and Note 17 4G get 7,700mAh batteries coupled with 45W charging.
An enormous battery typically means carrying around a heavy brick. Remarkably, the company managed to keep the physical footprint in check. The Pro versions sport a refined dual-finish back panel and a flattened midframe that makes them surprisingly comfortable to hold on the go. The Pro Max even offers a Cloud Blush colorway that relies on photochromic technology to shift from white to a warm pink-orange when exposed to UV sunlight.

Built like a tank (but doesn’t look like one)
Xiaomi is leaning hard into what it calls “Titan Durability,” and to the company’s credit, it brought the receipts. Both Pro models have earned a TÜV SÜD 5-star certification, surviving a gauntlet of mechanical shocks, thermal cycling, and heavy drops.
More practically, they feature IP66, IP68, and even IP69/IP69K ratings. That means they aren’t just protected from accidental spills; they can withstand high-temperature, high-pressure water jets and survive a 2-meter submersion for a full 72 hours. The brand even baked an Underwater mode right into the camera software. Up front, the glass is shielded by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and the screens use Wet Touch Technology 2.0 so you can actually scroll and type in the rain without the display registering phantom ghost touches.
Flagship touches and 6-year guarantees
Under the hood, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, while the rest of the lineup uses varied 5G and 4G octa-core silicon.
While you won’t find a periscope telephoto lens here, you do get a 50-megapixel main sensor equipped with optical image stabilization on the Pro models.
The visual experience is anchored by flat 1.5K AMOLED displays on the Pros — peaking at 3,500 nits of brightness — and large 6.99-inch immersive panels on the standard variants. On the software side, the entire series boots HyperOS 3.0, integrated heavily with Google Gemini and Circle to Search out of the box.
Perhaps the most underrated feature of the launch is Xiaomi’s promise of longevity. Beyond the tough exterior, the brand guarantees up to six years of security updates and a battery health promise ensuring the cells will retain at least 80% of their original capacity after 1,600 charging cycles.
It’s clear what Xiaomi is doing here. In a sea of midrange phones attempting to be jacks-of-all-trades, the REDMI Note 17 Series is picking a lane and running with it.
