While most phone makers have already announced their full lineup of handsets at this stage of the year, LG Philippines has apparently saved its best for last. The company is getting ready to reveal the LG V10, a top-shelf Android phone that succeeds the G4 as LG’s current flagship, at a press event scheduled for November 25.

The V10 is a 5.7-inch device with a 1,440 x 2,560 touchscreen display fronted by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The hardware itself makes use of metal and silicone bumpers and features a rear-facing power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

It’s not a stretch to think that the V10 is capable of producing photos that look so good people will wonder if they were taken using a digital SLR.

It runs LG’s custom user interface on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card.

The 16-megapixel, f/1.8 aperture camera around the back is similar to the one perched on the G4’s rear, so it’s not a stretch to think that the V10 is capable of producing photos that look so good people will wonder if they were taken using a digital SLR. The V10’s dual-front-camera setup, on the other hand, should offer plenty of possibilities with regard to taking selfies.

On paper, this LG sure seems impressive enough, and the capabilities of the hardware components alone should solidify its claim as a strong contender in the high-end smartphone space.

However, what makes it really special is the inclusion of an always-on, secondary display on top of the 5.7-inch screen for notifications, recent contacts, and apps you want quicker access to. In other words, the extra screen functions like the edge display of Samsung Edge phones.

As expected, LG Philippines has yet to reveal the local availability and pricing of the LG V10. I’ll keep my eyes and ears peeled and update this post if necessary.
