Owners of non-Google Pixel devices will finally get to see for themselves what to expect from Android 13 with yesterday’s rollout of the software’s second beta.

But a word of caution: Expect a lot of bugs — there’s a reason it’s called beta. If you’re not a developer, much less someone tech-savvy, wait for the final release sometime end of 2022. If you are or you just want to risk it, check the list below to see if your smartphone or tablet is one of the eligible models for the latest Android 13 beta. Go over the known issues and prerequisites before installing the software. There are instructions on how to opt out as well.

Of the phones and tablets listed above — units that will most likely get the final build of Android 13 first — only the ASUS Zenfone 8, OnePlus 10 Pro, Realme GT 2 Pro, Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi Pad 5 are already available in the Philippines. The OPPO Find X5 Pro is yet to be launched locally this month.

So what should you expect from this release?

According to Google, Android 13 still revolves around privacy and security. “We’ve added a new permission for sending notifications, a privacy-protecting photo picker, and improved permissions when pairing with nearby devices and accessing media files.”

To help boost a developer’s productivity, supporting app-specific language settings, matching an application’s icons to a user’s chosen theme colors, and building with modern standards like HDR video, MIDI 2.0 over USB, and Bluetooth LE Audio are now made easier. Tablets and big screens are getting some love as well, so he or she has a better tool to take advantage of the more than 270 million of these devices in active use.
