Earlier today, we reported that the TECNO POVA 5, the successor to the TECNO Mobile‘s bestselling POVA 4 series, is officially coming to the Philippines August 2.
Now, we can confirm how much the POVA 5 will cost when it arrives at local retail next week. We also found out that the variant coming here will be the Free Fire Special Edition, which has been co-designed with the battle-royale mobile game Free Fire in mind and ships in a themed retail box featuring Free Fire character Kelly prominently. She also appears in the sticker sheet and custom wallpaper bundled with the device.
Locally, the TECNO POVA 5 Free Fire Special Edition will start at P8,999 (roughly $165 converted) for the base variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The 8GB/256GB version, on the other hand, is priced at P9,499 ($174). Those prices would make the POVA 5 slightly more expensive than its predecessor, the POVA 4, which sold for P7,999 ($147) at launch last year.

Both POVA smartphones are powered by the same 6nm MediaTek Helio G99 4G chipset. On top of that, they have identical camera systems and 6,000mAh batteries, too. The Transsion Holdings brand will offer the POVA 5 Free Fire Special Edition in Amber Gold, Hurricane Blue, and Mecha Black colors. Specs-wise, the Free Fire-themed model boasts the same internals as the regular version.
The POVA 5 introduces two major changes to the lineup, sporting a faster, albeit slightly smaller, IPS display that has a refresh rate of 120Hz, alongside faster charging up to 45 watts. TECNO says the phone can go from 0% to 50% in just 21 minutes and to full in 66 minutes using the included power brick. Quite impressive given its high battery capacity.
