The three Huawei products that made their global debut in Dubai last December have made their way to the Philippines.

The 2024 refresh of the Huawei MateBook D 16, Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2″, and Huawei FreeClip are finally official in the country, with the latter debuting as the company’s first open-back earphones, offering a fresh take on a comfort-first listening experience by clamping firmly to your ears as opposed to classic earbuds that go in ear. The design could make the wearable ideal for running and outdoor exercise, because they let in ambient noise, ensuring that you’re aware of your surroundings

The Huawei FreeClip are likewise the first open-ear buds that are interchangeable between left and right ears and will automatically self-correct the channels — something that anyone who can’t be bothered to always check which earbud goes to which ear will appreciate.

But is the hype real? Are we still as impressed with them now, almost two months after we started using the device, as we did last month? Is the P9,999 (roughly $178) suggested retail price in the Philippines fair enough for the value they give even without the complimentary 1-Year Loss Care and free Huawei Band 7 smartband worth P4,598 ($82) for early birds? We urge you to watch the video we embedded in this article to find our what we think of the Huawei FreeClip now that we’ve used them for a longer time.

Team REVU Founded by Alora Uy Guerrero and Ramon "Monch" Lopez, REVU Philippines is the product of 42 combined years in the media trenches — long enough to see gadgets rise, platforms fall, and deadlines multiply. Between them, they've shaped content for Yahoo, T3, Techie, TV5, MEGA, GadgetMatch, and Gadgets, with a few strategic side quests in retail, PR, and marketing. We're a lean team, which means no filler and no fluff, just the stories worth telling. Between chasing kids, specs, and the perfect camera angle, we brew coffee, shoot content, play video games, watch hoops, blast our favorite bands, and somehow still hit our deadlines. REVU is our passion project, built on the belief that tech journalism should have as much style as it does substance — and preferably enough caffeine to power a small server farm.
