HONOR Philippines is gearing up for another hardware launch on the local market on April 14. This time around, it’s stepping away from its smartphone lineup to put the spotlight squarely on the HONOR Pad X8b.

While it’s already making the rounds in other markets, the device is a stark departure from the typical, fragile glass-and-aluminum tablets usually seen debuting locally. Taking a page straight out of the durable playbook of the company’s X Series phones, the HONOR Pad X8b is built to take a beating — or so we’re told. It rocks a metal body featuring what the brand calls its “latest embedding material technology.” According to HONOR, that translates to a notable 90% bump in overall chassis strength.

Specifically, this model is reportedly up to 60% more drop-resistant, 30% more crush-resistant, and 30% more water-resistant than usual. In fact, that unique toughness earned it the industry’s first Switzerland SGS Drop Resistance and Crush Resistance certifications.

And that ruggedness isn’t just a party trick, either. On paper, it makes the HONOR Pad X8b a practical choice for parents. Anyone with toddlers knows well that cups and tumblers get spilled, and screens inevitably take a tumble off the dining table. Having a gadget that promises to survive a chaotic afternoon gives buyers some added peace of mind.

Leaning heavily into that demographic, the Pad X8b ships with HONOR Kids preinstalled. Think of it as a sandboxed, separate operating system — similar to a dedicated privacy mode — tailor-made for younger users. With a single tap, you can engage a strict parental lock and activate smart sync. This feature lets parents easily manage specific profiles and track screen time via clear information charts, ensuring the little ones are kept in a safe digital environment.

You’d expect something this durable to feel like a brick, but the footprint remains surprisingly sleek. Despite the metal shell, the whole package weighs just 499 grams and measures 7.25mm along the profile.

Under the hood, the rest of the spec sheet looks pretty solid for the casual use. A large 10,100mAh battery keeps the lights on, powering an 11-inch 90Hz LCD display flanked by a quad-speaker setup. It’s all driven by a proven 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor.

As usual, pricing and availability details for the Philippine market remain under wraps, but everything will be revealed during next week’s local launch. Bookmark this page to join the the livestream at 4 p.m. on that day.
