Unreal Engine-powered fairways: Prime Golf opens high-tech sanctuary in Ortigas

The intersection of local nightlife and tech just got a lot more interesting — and a lot more virtual.

Prime Golf officially opened its doors at SM The Podium, pitching itself as a premium “social golf lounge.” But don’t mistake this for a standard driving range with a beer fridge, or another generic KTV joint. This is a huge, tech-heavy bet on indoor recreation that uses Unreal Engine, advanced swing diagnostics, and automated topography to bring world-class fairways to the middle of a bustling business district.

We dropped by the opening day, and it is clear that the venue is targeting a very specific crowd: people who take their swings seriously, but their post-game hospitality even more so.

The tech behind the virtual tee time

If you’ve ever used a budget simulator, you know the frustration: sluggish tracking, muddy graphics, and a flat floor that feels nothing like an actual golf course. Prime Golf is attempting to solve all three issues by treating the experience less like a game and more like an immersive simulation.

Every bay in the facility runs professional-grade tracking hardware. For the data nerds, the setup delivers real-time analytics on carry distance, spin rate, launch angle, and club path. It’s the kind of instantaneous telemetry that serious golfers look for when they are trying to fix a persistent slice.

The environment itself is the showstopper:

  • Dynamic terrain flooring. The floor beneath your feet physically shifts and tilts to replicate the actual slopes, lies, and contours of the course landing zones. If your virtual ball lands on a hillside, you will be standing on an angle when you take your next shot.
  • 4K Unreal Engine visuals. The rendering engine here isn’t running dated mobile graphics. It uses Unreal Engine to push crisp, true 4K visuals onto large projection screens, bringing hundreds of famous global courses to life with accurate lighting and environmental details.
  • Magic mirror interfaces. Golfers interact with the system via touch-enabled tempered glass screens that double as real-time swing-training monitors.

Beyond the open bays, the layout features nine private KTV-golf rooms. These spaces decouple the simulation from the rest of the venue, offering isolated sound systems and dedicated bar service so a group can jump from a serious round of 18 holes straight into a karaoke session without changing venues. There is also a dedicated indoor putting green for anyone looking to practice their short game without the full digital layout.

What’s the damage? The cost of admission

Let’s talk numbers, because hardware this high-end doesn’t come cheap. Prime Golf operates on a tiered pricing structure that splits the day into Happy Hour and Prime Hour, with rates climbing slightly if you visit on the weekend.

According to the official public rate guides, you can either book an open bay or opt for a multi-hour private room package that bundles KTV access, a club set, and food and beverage credits.

Open bay rates

If you just want to walk in, use the simulators, and practice your swing, the open bays are charged per person, per hour, or via large group packages:

  • Hourly (per person). Weekdays will run you ₱1,200 during Happy Hour (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and ₱2,100 during Prime Hour (6 p.m. to 2 a.m.). On weekends (Friday to Sunday), it flatlines at ₱2,300 per hour regardless of the time. No beverage credits are included with hourly walk-ins.
  • Open Bay S (up to 12 people). Includes a 4-hour package and ₱8,000 in beverage credits. It costs ₱30,000 on weekdays and ₱33,000 on weekends.
  • Open Bay B (up to 50 people). A massive 4-hour event space package with ₱60,000 in beverage credits. This tier costs ₱148,000 on weekdays and jumps to ₱178,000 on weekends.

Private VIP room rates (4-hour packages)

For those looking to host a private gathering, the venue offers closed-door suites. All rates below cover a base four-hour block:

Note: If your session runs over, hourly extensions range from ₱6,000 to ₱20,000 depending on the room class.

A new anchor for premium nightlife

Prime Golf represents a broader shift in how modern entertainment spaces are being designed in Metro Manila. More than just about offering a service, it’s about blending high-end hospitality with built-in activities to capture an audience that has grown tired of standard dinner-and-drinks routines.

By placing the lounge on Level 5 of SM The Podium, the creators are aiming squarely at corporate crowds looking for client hosting or team events, alongside casual groups looking for an alternative weekend plan. The design balances the clinical precision of a modern sports science lab with the moody, low-lit aesthetics of a high-end boutique lounge.

Whether you are trying to perfect your swing data during an afternoon lunch break or looking to own the night over a few drinks with friends, the tech stack here provides a highly polished foundation.
