As parents, finding the balance between giving kids their independence and keeping them secure is a constant tug of war. Handing a child a full-fledged phone usually introduces too many digital distractions, but families still need a reliable way to stay connected.

That is where the newly launched HUAWEI WATCH Kids X1 comes in. When the wearable first broke cover at HUAWEI’s Now Is Your Spark product showcase in Bangkok, it immediately stood out from the sea of adult tech. Now officially available in the Philippines, it is designed to act as your kid’s ultimate safety companion, offering the essential tools they actually need to explore independently — without the bloat and screen-time traps of a modern smartphone.

On paper, the communication and tracking specs are exactly what anxious parents look for. The device relies on the HUAWEI FamCare app for comprehensive parental controls and sports a transforming dual-camera setup — a 5-megapixel ultra-wide front lens and a 13-megapixel rear HD shooter — for clear video calls. To keep tabs on whereabouts, it uses dual-band GNSS and Wi-Fi positioning to pinpoint your child’s exact location, whether they are at the playground or inside a complex mall.

Team REVU Founded by Alora Uy Guerrero and Ramon "Monch" Lopez, REVU Philippines is the product of 42 combined years in the media trenches — long enough to see gadgets rise, platforms fall, and deadlines multiply. Between them, they've shaped content for Yahoo, T3, Techie, TV5, MEGA, GadgetMatch, and Gadgets, with a few strategic side quests in retail, PR, and marketing. We're a lean team, which means no filler and no fluff, just the stories worth telling. Between chasing kids, specs, and the perfect camera angle, we brew coffee, shoot content, play video games, watch hoops, blast our favorite bands, and somehow still hit our deadlines. REVU is our passion project, built on the belief that tech journalism should have as much style as it does substance — and preferably enough caffeine to power a small server farm.
