AFTER stopping by Malaysia in August, it appears the ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Lite is headed to the Philippines next. After some digging, our partner here at Revü Philippines found this page on the manufacturer’s local site.

This comes after ASUS Philippines teased on October 4 a “selfie master” that’s coming to the country soon. Today, there was also a report saying that the budget smartphone from ASUS has popped up on retailer CMK’s website, where it’s currently available only in black.

A teaser posted on ASUS Philippines’ Facebook page

The ZenFone 4 Selfie Lite is listed at P7,995 (around $156) for cash purchases on the site, though it could sell for as much as P8,995 ($176) in other stores that allow card payments. Keep in mind that CMK is hardly a reliable source of pricing information, because it has a habit of docking prices to better compete with brick-and-mortar rivals.

The ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Lite comes with 13-megapixel front and rear cameras and a 3000mAh battery. The screen is 5.5 inches, likely of HD quality, while the processor is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chip coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.

In Malaysia, the phone costs 899 Malaysian ringgit, or about P10,840 or $212, though it comes with more RAM and storage and a sharper 16-megapixel main camera. There is no mention of that souped-up version on the ASUS Philippines’ website, although it does say that there’s a variant with 32GB of internal storage.

In terms of design, the ZenFone 4 Selfie Lite doesn’t look different from the ZenFone 4 Selfie. The front sees the fingerprint reader embedded into the home button, while the back features antenna lines that run across the body, which appears to be made of metal.

We’ll keep an eye out for the local outfit’s official announcement of this particular model, and we’ll let you know when we have more details about it.
