The CloudFone Excite Prime 2 Pro, which went up for preorder earlier this month, is now available in stores nationwide. Even better, the price of the smartphone has been slashed by P2,000 (roughly $39) — two days after it became available.

Which means CloudFone’s first dual-camera phone now costs only P9,999 ($195), down from P11,999 ($235).

If you’re a Metro Manila resident, you can buy it through a monthly payment plan from Home Credit. As expected with these kinds of schemes, the total amount over the payment period will be higher than the suggested retail price. So ask yourself first if you’re okay with spending more in the long term.

To recap, the CloudFone Excite Prime 2 Pro is essentially an upgraded Excite Prime 2, featuring 13- and 5-megapixel cameras round the back. There’s a 20-megapixel shooter on the front for sharper selfies. The smartphone offers some neat software features for the camera, including beauty and time-lapse modes.

Will we see CloudFone bring its upcoming 18:9 phones, namely the CloudFone Infinity, CloudFone Infinity Plus, CloudFone Infinity Quattro, and CloudFone Infinity Pro, to the local market with equally competitive price tags?
