Infinix isn’t a household name, but as with many other Chinese OEMs, it has built a reputation as a maker of quality yet affordable smartphones.

The company’s upcoming offering in the Philippines, the Infinix Hot S3, figures to be a compelling choice for those after higher-end features but are not too keen on loosening their purse strings.

We mean, just check out these specs: 5.7-inch, 1,440 x 720 display running at a screen ratio of 18:9; octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chip paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage; 20-megapixel front-facing camera with a respectable aperture of f/2.0 and dual-LED flash; 4,000mAh battery; and Android 8.0 Oreo.

Everything’s housed in a likable unibody enclosure, whose bezels are not that thick and not large enough that reaching across the display may be troublesome either. There’s a fingerprint reader at the back. There’s also face detection for unlocking the handset without tapping in a PIN code or password.

The price? A reasonable P7,999 (around $154), though it is said that the Infinix Hot S3 will be sold at a discounted price of P5,999 ($115) on Shopee Philippines at a later date this month. It won’t be as cheap as the CloudFone Thrill Boost 3, which sells for P2,999 ($58), when it arrives in local stores. It boasts better specs across the board, though, so the price difference is well justified.
