The OPPO R15 and the OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition — which sports a flashier, rounded-glass body — are due to make an appearance in China soon. However, the surprise may have been spoiled prematurely online.

Details of OPPO’s upcoming flagship series have already been disclosed in full on the website of China’s TENAA regulatory body. Take note, though, that the site does not reveal the processor OPPO will be using for the two phones. This latest leak fixes that.

Based on the image below, it can be surmised that the two will be powered by different processor models. The standard version will be using the new MediaTek P60 system-on-a-chip, which will be clocked at 2GHz. The fancier Dream Mirror Edition, on the other hand, gets Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 at 2.2GHz.

We’re not sure what the MediaTek P60 is capable of, because it’s totally new technology. However, the Snapdragon 660 has been found to be more powerful than the Snapdragon 636 and Snadragon 820, which was king of the Android hill just a couple of years ago.

Having said that, no one expects the P60 to be a slouch either. We’re actually more excited to find out if MediaTek can maintain the momentum built up under its excellent P line of chipsets.

Both devices are expected to have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage under the hood, along with 6.3 inches of screen real estate and OPPO’s latest Color OS Android skin based on Android 8.1 Oreo. They come with the VOOC fast-charging standard, too, for quicker top-ups.

Of course, nothing is official until OPPO says it is. Thus, we’ll have to wait until we see the R15 and the R15 Dream Mirror Edition confirmed on stage. Don’t hold your breath waiting for a Philippine release, though. The Chinese OEM isn’t the kind to make premium-smartphone announcements here, where price is a key driver in the purchasing decision.
