The Vivo Y71 launched in India last week, providing the subcontinent a new budget option with an extra-tall screen and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor under the hood.

(Update, April 21: The spec sheet at the bottom of this page has been updated to reflect the specifications of the Y71 versions that Vivo is bringing to the Philippines.)

And as it turns out, the Philippines could be getting the phone sooner than later. A high-ranking local Vivo official has posted teaser images of the Y71 on social media with the caption, “[Vivo] Y71 is here!”

The post includes a few technical highlights, but pricing and availability details are conveniently left out — likely so as not to preempt Vivo’s domestic plans. We’re told that a launch event is imminent. In India, though, the smartphone is priced at ₹10,990 (around P8,717 or $167).

Regardless, the Vivo Y71 has been made official for the Indian market. And by extension, almost everything you need to make an informed purchase decision has been laid out in front of you. On the front, you’ll find a 6-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 5-megapixel selfie camera on the upper-left side.

Despite its modest megapixel count, the front camera can conveniently unlock the device by using your face data, as an alternative to punching in letters and numbers. In case you’re wondering, there is no fingerprint reader built into the hardware.

As earlier reported, the Y71 is built around the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, which is the same platform as many contemporary budget smartphones, including the P5,990 ($115) Huawei Y6 2018 and the P4,390 ($84) Xiaomi Redmi 5A. It will come with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, which can be expanded through the microSD card slot.

Other specs include a 13-megapixel main camera; FunTouch OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo; and a 3,360mAh battery that is said to be optimized for lower power consumption using Vivo’s Smart Engine software.

  • 6-inch LCD display, 1,440 x 720 resolution (18:9)

  • 2GB/3GB RAM
  • 16GB expandable storage, microSD up to 256GB
  • 8-megapixel/13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash
