Xiaomi, through gaming company Black Shark, launched its first gaming smartphone recently, which is good news for serious mobile gamers looking for something that won’t cost a small fortune.
The bad news is that it might take a while before the Black Shark phone becomes available outside of its native China. And that’s assuming Xiaomi fully intends to push the gaming narrative in other lucrative markets like the U.S., Europe, and India.
The Philippines certainly won’t get it at any time soon, if ever, as confirmed to us at Revü Philippines by a Xiaomi executive. However, there is one more option for those who’d want nothing more than to score the Black Shark gaming phone before anyone else in the country — Shopee Philippines.
Importers have already posted their listings online, though pricing depends on where you get it and which variant you go for. In China, where it has already gone on preorder, the Black Shark is available in black and gray color versions and two memory configurations — 6GB RAM mated to 64GB storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage.
The base model starts at P27,500 ($528) on Shopee, while the 8GB RAM and 128GB option will set you back between P31,500 ($605) and P32,390 ($633). And yet we’re told that those prices are subject to change. The Shark GamePad controller that launched alongside the Black Shark? There’s currently no word on how much it will be sold for here.
Officially, the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage model of the Black Shark is priced at ¥2,999 (about P24,799 or $478), while the 8GB and 128GB version rings in at ¥3,499 (P28,933 or $557). The controller attachment comes in at ¥179 (P1,480 or $29).
