Samsung Galaxy J6 goes on sale in PH ahead of official release date

On May 25, we broke the news that the Samsung Galaxy J6 is coming to the country with Filipina actress Nadine Lustre as endorser. Earlier, Samsung Electronics Philippines has finally confirmed that the smartphone will be available here.

The Korean tech giant has posted on Facebook a behind-the-scenes shoot of the Galaxy J6 TV commercial starring Lustre. You can already see based on the video below that Samsung is marketing the J6 as an entertainment device, with emphasis on music, movies, and gaming.

The caption of the post says the phone will be available on June 16, but we’ve learned that it’s actually already on sale at Samsung concept stores. According to an SM Megamall branch employee we talked to over the phone (the number is +632.631.1276, in case you’re interested), the Samsung Galaxy J6 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory is priced at P13,990 (around $267). There are two colors to choose from: black and gold.

The J6 is the cheapest Galaxy model that has an Infinity display, a feature that used to be reserved for Samsung’s flagship line. It’s one of the first two J series products that get the full-view-screen treatment, with the other being the Galaxy J8.

In India, the base model of the Samsung Galaxy J6 retails at ₹13,990 (P10,761 or $205); the variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage costs ₹16,490 (P12,684 or $242). The higher-specced Samsung Galaxy J8, on the other hand, has a suggested retail price of ₹18,990 (P14,607 or $279).
