After weeks of speculation, teasing, and wild theorizing, a launch date for the Philippine market has been set for the Vivo X21.

The company’s anticipated offering will be the first in the country of over 30 million smartphone users to debut an under-display fingerprint reader, beating the likes of Apple and Samsung to the next-gen feature.

The Vivo X21 will be officially revealed on June 21 at a press event in the Philippines. It was launched three months ago in its native China and has had limited limited availability since then. To be honest, Vivo bringing a high-end phone such as the X21 here isn’t something we could have predicted sometime ago, when the company was seemingly focused only on value and mid-tier options.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but the winds have certainly changed. Should we expect the Vivo NEX, an even more exciting — and expensive — prospect, to be available in the Philippines at a later time as well? All signs point to that happening.
