OPPO RealMe 2 image shows how different phone is from RealMe 1

It has only been three months since the RealMe 1 was launched in India, but make no mistake, its successor is already being prepped for launch. In fact, a press render of the RealMe 2 — seen above — briefly went live on the site of OPPO’s budget sub-brand, revealing the front and back of the smartphone.

The image shows that just like its predecessor, the RealMe 2 has a diamond pattern on the rear panel. However, we already see three features that differentiate it from the RealMe 1.

First, whether you like it or not, the device now has the controversial notch design — probably to make way for a higher screen-to-body ratio. We assume you can hide it by turning off the option in the settings. Second, the single main camera makes way for a dual-camera system. And third, there is now a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. With RealMe’s first product, you only have face unlock to secure your phone.

The render also showcases two color variants of the RealMe 2 — black and blue. In case you didn’t know, there’s no blue RealMe 1. There’s only Diamond Black, Solar Red, and Midnight Silver.

We have no doubt that the handset pictured above is the RealMe 2. The company itself, through its Twitter account, already said back in July that the device is in the offing.

Tweet confirms the RealMe 2 is coming soon

Plus, a photo of the RealMe 2’s retail box is already circulating online as well.

Expect the RealMe 2 to be priced affordably, just like the RealMe 1, which retails for as low as ₹8,990 (around P6,854 or $128). After all, the OPPO sub-brand was created to go after the likes of Xiaomi offer something with real power, quality, and style that does not cost much.
