After a rather long wait, Lenovo will finally announce its latest gaming phone in the Philippines later this month. The company’s local Legion arm recently confirmed that the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 has a launch scheduled for June 18.

(Update, June 18: The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 with up to 16GB of RAM is official in the Philippines! See the prices, specs, and freebies here.)

The Legion Phone Duel 2, which made its debut in April, is the sequel to the first Legion Phone Duel from last year. It rightfully upgrades to a Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset, alongside a larger and brighter 6.92-inch AMOLED screen with a 720Hz touch-sampling rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Notably, it retains the side-mounted, pop-up selfie camera and twin USB-C ports as well as the 144Hz refresh rate of the original for smoother visuals and less input lag. The primary dual-camera still pairs a 64-megapixel sensor with a 16-megapixel ultra-wide option. The front-facing shooter, on the other hand, now boasts a 44-megapixel sensor, up from 20 megapixels on the previous model.

Promising an even better gaming experience, the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 also features a total of eight touch-sensitive triggers, including four ultrasonic shoulder keys, two pressure-sensitive buttons on the screen, and two touchpads at the back.

Perhaps more impressively, the Legion Phone Duel 2 includes two spinning fans — an intake fan and a hidden exhaust fan — each with their own vents. Those fans, coupled with the improved vapor chamber, should make the Snapdragon 888 chip inside run cooler, and thus will allow users to play longer without needing to attach a clip-on fan to the phone’s rear.

Lenovo’s original Legion Phone Duel was priced from P39,995 (around $837) at launch. Hopefully, the pricing this time around is lower considering how many terrific options there are now at the said price point on the local market.
