Wiko T50: Top features you should know

In Phones by Revu TeamLeave a Comment

French challenger brand Wiko made its debut in the Philippines by bringing two smartphones — the Wiko T50 and T10 — and pricing them within the means of their target demographic.

After spending weeks with our review unit, let’s take a closer look at the top features of the Wiko T50, which, according to the brand, is “based on elegant French aesthetics,” to help you decide whether this particular model is right for you.

A view not to be missed!

It’s pretty obvious what the highlight of the Wiko T50 is — you just have to look at its front panel. The phone sports a 6.6-inch FHD+ IPS panel with a tall 20:9 aspect ratio and a 60Hz refresh rate. That’s average for the price point, but the kicker here are the bezels — or lack thereof.

Impressively, the T50 boasts some of the slimmest bezels we’ve seen on a smartphone in this segment, with the bottom chin narrowed down to just 3.5mm to provide you with a much fuller and more immersive view. The sides and top bezel are also asymmetrical — which you rarely see on a midranger — while the center-aligned punch-hole cutout for the 16-megapixel selfie camera is small, just like the edges and chin of the display.

According to Wiko, the T50 has a 94.58% screen-to-body ratio. This results in a screen that maximizes virtually every square inch of the device’s available screen estate and makes viewing content and playing games on the T50 a delightful experience.

Colors to match your OOTD

The rear complements the front of the Wiko T50 with its glossy exterior available in three premium colorways: Aqua Green, Lively Pink, and the classic Midnight Black, which is what we’re using. Despite being made of plastic, the back feels solid and pretty sturdy, and its shiny surface adds a premium touch to a phone that’s ready to complete your outfit of the day.

Regardless of which color you pick, you’ll find a physical fingerprint reader embedded in the power button on the right-hand side of the unit, alongside the volume rocker. The fingerprint sensor is fast and convenient, and it’s located where your thumb might rest naturally when holding the T50 single-handed.

Click-worthy cameras

Another key attraction is the Wiko T50’s versatile triple-camera array, which houses a 64-megapixel primary image sensor and two others for dedicated purposes. The main camera performs admirably outdoors and in well-lit environments, and there’s a Night mode as well for low-light shots. Also at the back, the 64-megapixel shooter is joined by an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 2-megapixel unit purposefully built for macro photography.

The former is the best choice for landscapes and cityscapes, as well as group pictures, making it essential if you are an aspiring travel vlogger or just frequently take vacations. Those who want to start their own fashion blog might also need a wide-angle camera to get their full outfit in the frame. It’s not common for a handset in this price bracket to feature such a robust camera setup at the back, so that’s something you have to keep in mind.

The sharp 16-megapixel selfie camera, meanwhile, has an AI Beauty mode to help you take portraits with a smooth background blur. It can also capture videos at 1080p, which is more than enough for vlogs and livestreaming sessions on social media.

40W fast charging out the box

The Wiko T50 sports a 4,000mAh battery, and though that isn’t large by modern standards, the phone does offer fast charging over USB-C at up to 40 watts, making it one of the fastest-charging midrangers around. Wiko says that’s enough to give you 25% battery in just 10 minutes from a 3% battery level, or a full charge in under an hour. And don’t worry, the fast charger is included in the box for your convenience.

Reliable performance with ample RAM and storage

Finally, there’s the processor. The Wiko T50 boots a custom Android interface on a 12nm MediaTek Helio G85 4G chipset paired with dual-core Mali-G52 graphics. While not the fastest in the segment, the G85 has proven itself to be a dependable chip that performs within the range of similarly priced devices.

The T50 also comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage — enough for your favorite apps, as well as your most crucial files, photos, and videos. You get ample memory as well for multitasking and resource-intensive apps and games.
