And then comes another Reno lineup.

The OPPO Reno9 family has debuted with three members in China — the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus, OPPO Reno9 Pro, and OPPO Reno9. The smartphones’ look may not stray far from their predecessors’, but we think the design is more refined than that of the Reno8 series models. There’s none of that big camera protrusion here, for one.

The most premium of the trio, the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus is the brand’s first device to pair a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 5G chipset with its own MariSilicon X NPU chip for an improved overall user experience and better images using AI features. It comes from a line that focuses on AI-powered portraits, after all. You get a 50-megapixel triple camera on the back, Up front, inside the punch-hole cutout at the top center of the 6.7-inch curved 120Hz OLED screen, is a 32-megapixel RGBW camera.

The base model of the Pro Plus variant offers 16GB of RAM. The phone likewise sports a 4,700mAh battery with support for 80-watt SuperVOOC charging technology and ships with Android 13-based ColorOS 13.

The other two, the OPPO Reno9 Pro and OPPO Reno9, share a lot of features — from the 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display, 32-megapixel selfie shooter, 4,500mAh battery, 67-watt fast-charging support, and Android 13 layered with ColorOS 13. Their main differences boil down to the processors that power them (5nm MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max 778G 5G vs 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G), their rear camera systems (50-megapixel dual camera with MariSilicon X NPU vs 64-megapixel dual camera), and their memory configurations (16GB RAM with up to 512GB storage vs 8GB RAM as base).

In China, the newly launched smartphones have the following price tags:

    • 16GB + 256GB: ¥3,999 (roughly P31,588 or $558)
