After weeks of teasing, ASUS has officially launched its first handheld gaming PC in the Philippines, with the ASUS ROG Ally arriving on the local market at a surprisingly palatable price tag.

The ROG Ally comes in two variants — one fitted with a more powerful AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and another sporting a vanilla Ryzen Z1 CPU. Both configurations are equipped with Radeon RDNA 3 graphics, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 512GB of PCIe Gen4 SSD storage, which can be upgraded to a higher capacity at any time. Plus, there is a UHS-II microSD card slot, if you need to slot in a high-performance card to house even more games and files.

In the Philippines, the ASUS ROG Ally with a Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip costs P43,995 (roughly $807), while the Ryzen Z1-based variant is priced at P39,995 ($733). Take note that the latter will be available at a later date next month. As a special offer, the first 100 buyers of the console in the country will receive an ASUS ROG Ally Travel Case and a Gaming Charger Dock worth P6,000 ($110) when they register through ASUS’ official website.

That’s a sweet deal considering how much the Steam Deck goes for on the gray market. The starter 64GB model of the Steam Deck, for example, typically costs around P26,000 ($477) in the Philippines. Meanwhile, the top-end version with 512GB of SSD storage will set you back P43,000 ($788). Keep in mind those prices are for gray units that don’t have local warranty coverage from Valve.

Which brings us to our next point: Another incentive for customers to purchase ASUS’ Steam Deck competitor through official sales channels is the warranty. Locally bought units will be entitled to the company’s after-sales program, which includes a two-year international warranty, ASUS Premium Care, ASUS Platinum Protection warranty that covers accidental damage, and access to over 100 ASUS authorized service providers nationwide if the need arises.
