In addition to the RedMagic 8S Pro and RedMagic 8S Pro Plus, Nubia‘s gaming brand announced its first-ever tablet aimed squarely at mobile gamers.

Meet the RedMagic tablet — and, yes, it’s simply called “tablet.” Obviously, RedMagic didn’t exhaust its creative juices on this particular model, but thankfully, the gaming tablet isn’t as plain as its moniker.

In China, the RedMagic tablet starts at ¥3,899 (around P29,864 in Philippine pesos or $538 in U.S. dollars) for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The 16GB/512GB trim is priced at ¥4,599 (P35,226 or $634). Open sales start July 11th. Black is your only color option. Customers can also pair the device with the Smart Magnetic Keyboard and stylus for ¥599 (P4,588 or $83) and ¥399 (P3,056 or $55), respectively.

One of the highlights here is the display. The device packs a 12.1-inch 16:10 LCD screen with 2,560 x 1,600 resolution and up to 600 nits of brightness. The panel also has a refresh rate of 144Hz as well as 240Hz touch sampling. Impressively, the bezels here are slim and symmetrical to give users a more immersive gaming experience.

Will this gaming tablet be released globally?

Another thing that stands out is the chipset. RedMagic’s first gaming slate is powered by a Qualcomm 8 Plus Gen 1 chip paired with a 5G modem for cellular data and the ICE Magic internal cooling system. Unlike the RedMagic 8S Pro series, though, this model doesn’t have a built-in cooling fan as well as RGB lighting.

It weighs 613 grams and measures just 6.5mm at its thickest point, despite featuring a massive 10,000mAh battery and DTS-tuned quad speakers located at the sides. The battery supports 80-watt wired fast charging out of the box and should completely recharge in around 55 minutes. As for the camera, you’re looking at a single 13-megapixel sensor around the back and a 16-megapixel shooter for selfies.
