August 26 marked the grand opening of HONOR Philippines’ experience store at SM Mall of Asia. That same day, the former Huawei sub-brand’s latest sub-flagship became available nationwide.

And it was a day that proved to be remarkable for HONOR, because the HONOR 90 5G broke first-day sale records for the company, becoming its bestselling smartphone in the country thus far.

“From the HONOR X9a 5G that was launched in January, [August 26] marks another milestone for HONOR Philippines, as we received double demand for the HONOR 90 5G,” HONOR Philippines vice president Stephen Cheng shared. “Since we announced its availability on the market, we have received a high volume of offline and online preorders from the public, and until today, a huge crowd of shoppers lined up at our stores to purchase their own HONOR 90 5G, and we are truly thankful for all the support.”

Yes, you can now buy the HONOR 90 5G. And while there’s no JBL Flip 6 freebie that comes with every purchase anymore (it was for those who preordered between August 16 and August 25), you can still get a free HONOR Band 6 worth P1,790 (around $32).

Priced at P24,990 ($441), the phone with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage boasts a triple camera on the back that’s headlined by a 200-megapixel camera with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor for supporting multi-frame fusion, noise reduction, pixel binning, optical and electronic image stabilization, and phase-detection and laser autofocus. It likewise allows you to record videos in up to 8K resolution at 30fps or in up to 4K resolution at 60fps.

Another highlight is the device’s quad-curved OLED display, which became the first smartphone screen with a whopping 3,840Hz of PWM dimming for a flicker-free viewing experience. hat’s so high, considering handsets such as the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra have displays with PWM dimming frequencies of 480Hz and 240Hz, respectively.
