Following the release of the vivo Y36 in the Philippines, vivo is set to announce another model under the budget-focused Y series. This time around, it’s the vivo Y27‘s turn in the limelight.

The company has yet to set an exact date for a local announcement, but expect it to reveal how much the smartphone is in two weeks’ time.

The spiritual successor to the vivo Y16 features a similar yet equally attractive rear panel, but the main camera module will sport a “floating” lens design with gold-colored accents. Recall that the 4GB/128GB storage variant of the Y16 was priced at P8,999 (around $161) at launch in the Philippines.

The vivo Y27 also retains the waterdrop LCD display of its predecessor. The good news is that its size and resolution have been upgraded to 6.64 inches and FHD+, respectively.

When it comes to the camera, vivo’s latest Y series entry upgrades to a 50-megapixel primary rear camera, although it still packs a 2-megapixel secondary camera for portraits and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. The vivo Y27 also brings back the 5,000mAh battery from the previous generation, but bumps up the wired charging speed to 44 watts.

vivo Philippines’ press release

Other notable specs of the vivo Y27 include a MediaTek Helio G85 4G chipset and vivo’s Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13.

We at Revü have spotted several listings of the vivo Y27 online even before receiving the press release, revealing the possible price of the phone ahead of its launch. Based on the listings we found, the vivo Y27, just like the Y16 at launch, will carry a suggested retail price of P8,999 ($161) in the Philippines. The lone variant that is set to hit local retail comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It will be available in three colors — Burgundy Black, Sea Blue, and Garden Green.
