Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 13T Pro and Xiaomi 13T at a global event here in Berlin, Germany. The debut marks the first time the company is bringing the Leica experience to its T series. And contrary to rumors, both devices — not just one of them — are fitted with Summicron lenses co-engineered with the German optics manufacturer.

There’s a 50-megapixel main camera with a 24mm equivalent focal length, a 7P aspherical high transmittance lens, and optical and electronic image stabilization; a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with a 50mm equivalent focal length; and a 12-megapixel ultrawide shooter with a 15mm equivalent focal length. Two photographic styles are offered as well: Leica Authentic Look for a classic tone and Leica Vibrant Look, which is currently considered the new classic in smartphone photography.

But there’s always room for more personalization with the Xiaomi 13T Pro and Xiaomi 13T courtesy of Leica custom photographic styles under Pro mode, which were first applied on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. You can create your own style by adjusting Tone, Tonality, and Texture in the pre-processing stage.

That’s not all. Xiaomi also offers you control of color and detail. The Pro version, in particular, can shoot video in LOG, allowing you to color-grade your work before showing it off. You can even import your favorite LUT style to the smartphone. Expect 8K video-shooting capability from the Xiaomi 13T Pro and 4K video recording at all focal lengths from the non-Pro variant.

Beyond imaging

Xiaomi says it’s taking the user experience to the next level with the Xiaomi 13T Pro and Xiaomi 13T and making sure that they’re masterpieces in form and in function as well. Not only do the devices come with professional-grade imaging system, they also focus on power-efficiency enhancements and long battery life through the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus and MediaTek Dimensity 8200-Ultra 5G chipsets, respectively.

Charging the 5,000mAh battery shouldn’t be an issue; the Pro model supports the brand’s 120W HyperCharge technology, making a 19-minute full charging possible, while the base model gets 67-watt turbo charging to allow for a 21% top-up in just 5 minutes.

The 6.67-inch CrystalRes Display of the two smartphones boasts up to 144Hz refresh rate, has a 1.5K resolution, and offers a peak brightness of up to 2,600nits. There’s 100% DCI-P3 coverage with 68 billion colors that supports Dolby Vision and end-to-end HDR10+, too. And with Dolby Atmos with integrated dual speakers, you can fully immerse yourself in movies and videos.

The ‘masterpiece in sight’ at a glance

The two inherit the classic and understatedly luxurious design language of the Xiaomi 13 series. But now, there’s a variant that’s wrapped in Xiaomi BioComfort vegan leather — in blue! — proving that it doesn’t hurt to add a pop of color to devices meant to look elegant. You shouldn’t be afraid of the occasional splashes as well, because the phones are IP68-rated.

Signaling a substantial upgrade in the company’s software support commitment, Xiaomi will provide four generations of Android OS upgrades along with five years of security patches to both units.
