The successor to the OnePlus 11, which debuted in the Philippines with a P45,990 or roughly $831 price tag earlier this year, is finally official.

The OPPO sub-brand has launched the highly anticipated OnePlus 12 at an event in China that marked the company’s 10th anniversary. A global launch has been tipped for January 24, 2024, although OnePlus has yet to confirm the specific date.

As expected, the newly announced flagship smartphone joins the growing list of devices powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile chipset. Other phones built around the top-end chip include the Xiaomi 14 and RedMagic 9 Pro series.

Not to be outdone by other Android flagships on the market, the OnePlus 12 also ships with top-of-the-line configuration kitted with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. It upgrades to an IP65 water- and dust-resistance rating — up from the previous generation’s IP64 certification — and brings back wireless charging, which was notably missing from the OnePlus 11.

Pricing for the new OnePlus 12 in China is as follows:

  • 12GB/256GB: ¥4,299 ($606 or P33,532)
  • 16GB/512GB: ¥4,799 ($676 or P37,432)
  • 16GB/1TB: ¥5,299 ($747 or P41,332)
  • 24GB/1tB: ¥5,799 ($817 or P45,232)

Like previous models, the OnePlus 12 prides itself with a distinctive Hesselblad-branded camera setup backed by impressive imaging chops. The primary sensor boasts a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 808 CMOS sensor, which uses a dual-layer stacked design to improve low-light shots. If you’ll recall, the Lytia sensor is the result of OPPO and Sony’s strategic partnership for future mobile devices under the BKK Electronics umbrella.

The second shooter packs a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, while the tertiary option brings 48 megapixels to ultrawide shots. The selfie camera has been bumped up from 16 megapixels on the previous generation to 32 megapixels on the OnePlus 12.

Other notable specs include a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 1,440p resolution and a 1-to-120Hz adaptive refresh rate for smooth scrolling and better battery efficiency. Speaking of which, the dual-cell battery is rated at an impressive 5,400mAh and supports wired and wireless charging up to 100 watts and 50 watts, respectively.
