TECNO has brought its latest endurance powerhouse into the limelight with a global launch at MWC [Mobile World Congress] 2024 here in Barcelona, Spain.

The strikingly designed TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G is now official globally, bringing with it the promise to power gaming and entertainment experience beyond limits. The first Dolby Atmos-tuned device from the brand is scheduled to launch in the Philippines in early March and will become widely available across key markets in Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.

“Through extensive research into global users, we learned that there is great anticipation for even smoother gaming and entertainment experiences and longer-lasting endurance,” TECNO product director Leo Li says. “The POVA 6 Pro 5G is designed in response to these expectations, with advanced battery technology, mighty performance, and striking audiovisuals to deliver entertainment beyond limits.”

The newly launched smartphone packs a massive 6,000mAh battery to deliver more than 11 hours of gaming, 14 hours of video streaming, and 31 hours of calling. It’s not obvious that the cell’s big because of how thin and light this POVA model is — only 7.88mm in thickness, or 12.4% thinner than its predecessor, and just 195g in heft. Even more promising, if you use the unit for one and a half days per charge, the battery should last for about six years and is said to maintain 80% of its original performance.

And you won’t have to keep reaching for a charger often, because the TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G supports the brand’s 70-watt Ultra Charge technology. If the battery does run low, at least the 1% Super-Endurance Power feature will even allow you to make calls for up to 20 minutes.

How about cooling solutions, especially since we’re talking about a gaming-focused phone here? Well, the -20°C Extreme Cold Charging function is there to ensure charging efficiency even when it’s below freezing. On the other extreme side, the POVA 6 Pro 5G is designed to operate at temperatures of 60°C max.

There are safety protections, too, such as STS Secure Battery for warding off internal shortcuts, Bypass Charge for preventing overheating, and Charging Water Detection for alerting you when moisture is detected. Charging is likewise made smarter with Ladder Charge for three charging modes that automatically adjusts charging speeds based on your charging needs.

But what about the TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G’s other features? Are there other things going for it? Read the press release below, or better yet, watch our initial-impressions video, which we embedded in this article, to find out. Don’t forget to come back here for the full review we’ll publish next week as well. Till then.
