Chinese AI-driven mobility brand XPENG is officially touching down in the Philippines this September — and it’s doing it on its own terms.
Instead of relying on third-party distributors, the company is taking the wheel directly. Through its new subsidiary, XPENG Philippines, it will independently manage all local sales, marketing, and retail operations.
XPENG is kicking off its arrival with a public launch featuring two models: the XPENG X9 seven-seater and the XPENG L03 SUV coupe. Pricing, local variants, and exact availability for both vehicles will be announced at the event next month.
XPENG X9
The XPENG X9 serves as the brand’s flagship seven-seater MPV, designed to blend executive-class comfort with cutting-edge tech. Locally, it will be going head to head with established options like the Toyota Alphard, as well as high-end electric challengers such as the ZEEKR 009 and the BYD Denza D9. For context on its value, the updated X9 recently launched in China with a price ranging from ¥309,800 to ¥369,800 (around ₱2.4 million to ₱2.9 million, before Philippine taxes and duties).

The MPV is built on an 800V high-voltage silicon-carbon platform, which mitigates range anxiety by allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in a mere 12 minutes. Depending on the configuration, it offers up to 371km of WLTP range, and the all-wheel-drive variant boasts a speedy acceleration, hitting 0–100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.
Inside, the cabin leans heavily into versatility and passenger comfort. The interior features an integrated electric freezing and heating refrigerator, along with a 21.4-inch roof-mounted entertainment screen tailored for rear passengers. Another standout feature is the flat-folding third row, which opens up 2,554 liters of rear cargo space, allowing the XPENG X9 to seamlessly transition from a mobile office to a family hauler.

The XPENG L03 enters the Philippine market as an intelligent SUV coupe aiming to raise the bar in the EV space. In its home market of China, the car launched with an aggressive price tag ranging from ¥123,800 to ¥156,800 (₱980,000 to ₱1.24 million, before taxes and duties). If the company can keep the pricing here competitive, the L03 is poised to disrupt current compact electric crossovers like the BYD Atto 3 and the OMODA E5.

The performance figures are impressive for this segment, too. The electric range tops out at 218km WLTP, while the extended-range setup pushes the combined distance to over 1,000km. For those prioritizing speed, the dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds. Charging is equally efficient; the battery architecture allows the XPENG L03 to go from 10% to 80% capacity in eight minutes.
The exterior features an ultra-low drag coefficient of Cd 0.228, designed to maximize battery life on the highway. Meanwhile, the cabin is anchored by a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, alongside XPENG’s Navigation Guided Pilot system, which is powered by three Turing AI chips.
