If you’ve ever looked at a foldable phone and thought you only really wanted the wide cover screen without the fragile hinge, the newly launched HUAWEI Pura X View is exactly the unit you’ve been waiting for.
Unveiled alongside the brand’s headline-stealing trifold, this is technically the world’s first nonfoldable wide smartphone. And HUAWEI isn’t being shy about what it costs to put this huge 16:9.5 aspect ratio flat screen in your pocket. Hitting Chinese store shelves starting Sept. 9, the base model offering 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at ¥5,999, which converts to roughly ₱55,959 or $894. If you need more room, stepping up to the 512GB tier will set you back ¥6,999 (₱65,287 or $1,043), while the maxed-out 1TB version tops out at ¥8,499 (₱79,279 or $1,266).
While global availability and international promotional bundles remain up in the air, early buyers get their hands on a device that essentially redefines what a big-screen phone can be.
The HUAWEI Pura X View’s main proposition is pure, uninterrupted screen real estate. Despite carrying a 6.39-inch OLED panel — a number that sounds almost compact on paper — the widened format gives it more actual display area than the tallest traditional flagships on the market. It’s surrounded by 1.05mm symmetrical bezels, boasting a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio.
The display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming for eye comfort, and 6,500 nits of peak brightness, all shielded by the company’s proprietary Kunlun Glass. And because this isn’t a foldable, it gets to stay ultra-thin at just 6.68mm while weighing a manageable 201 grams.

Under the hood, the HUAWEI Pura X View is powered by the new Kirin 9030S chipset, promising noticeable bumps in home screen smoothness and task loading speeds as it runs the brand-new HarmonyOS 7 right out of the box. It also packs a 7,000mAh battery with 66W wired charging, but as with any modern HUAWEI flagship, the camera system is where things get genuinely exciting.
Housed in a familiar racetrack-shaped module on the back, the imaging array is anchored by a 200-megapixel RYYB super-focusing primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. That heavy hitter is flanked by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens capable of 3.7x optical zoom and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, alongside a dedicated Red Maple sensor for improved color reproduction. There’s also a 50-megapixel front-facing camera cut into a single punch-hole for high-res selfies.
Available in Shadow Red, Linen Gray, Zero White, and Phantom Black, the HUAWEI Pura X View is all wrapped up in an IP68 and IP69-rated chassis for serious water and dust resistance, making it a robust package for anyone who wants tablet-like width without the moving parts.
