Xiaomi is pulling out all the stops for its next flagship push. The company has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro Series will go official in its native China on Sept. 23. Between an incoming 2nm processor, 200-megapixel sensors, sizable batteries, and a rather divisive display feature, it looks like Xiaomi is throwing everything at the wall for its late-2026 flagship lineup.

For context, when the Xiaomi 17 Series launched in the Philippines back in March, the top-tier Xiaomi 17 Ultra with 16GB of physical RAM and 512GB of internal storage was priced at ₱99,999 (around $1,594), while the standard Xiaomi 17 (12GB/256GB) started at ₱53,599 ($854).

Both the Xiaomi 18 Pro and the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are expected to run on a 2nm chipset. Considering Qualcomm is scheduled to unveil its next-generation 2nm chip today, Sept. 22, the math makes sense. The brand clearly wants to be one of the first — if not the first — out of the gate with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest tech. With an expected significant leap in raw performance, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Series could also come with a higher price tag, positioning it as an even more premium offering than its predecessor.

For the cameras, the Leica partnership continues. The new smartphones will feature a Leica-tuned dual 200-megapixel camera system. Based on current industry trends, that configuration almost certainly translates to a 200-megapixel primary sensor flanked by a 200-megapixel telephoto.

Probably the most interesting addition is the built-in, hardware-level privacy display. We’ve seen this implemented recently on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The technology relies on a specialized architecture, placing standard pixels beside narrow ones. When activated, the screen shuts off the regular wide pixels and narrows the viewing angles, helping keep your display private from people sitting beside you.

It sounds like a neat and useful trick for keeping prying eyes away from your chats and bank details. When we tested this on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, however, we noticed some compromises to the panel’s brightness, vibrancy, and overall picture quality. It will be interesting to see whether Xiaomi has managed to refine the technology and deliver the privacy benefits while minimizing those trade-offs.

Xiaomi CEO Lu Weibing posted a hands-on video teasing the Xiaomi 18 Pro, giving us a clear look at the revised chassis and the returning rear display in action. The front of the device is practically all screen, with the company claiming razor-thin 0.99mm bezels.

As for the batteries, the standard Xiaomi 18 Pro will pack a 7,000mAh cell, while the Pro Max version pushes things further with an 8,500mAh unit. Both models use Xiaomi’s Jinshajiang silicon-carbon anode battery technology with 32% silicon content.

We’ll get the final details, hopefully including global availability, when the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max make their debut tomorrow.
