OPPO Find X10 Pro Max camera preview: 3 200MP sensors and a whole lot of promise

We’re used to OPPO going all out with its camera hardware, yet picking up the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max still managed to surprise us. As the industry’s first smartphone to pack three 200-megapixel sensors on its rear module, it’s unapologetically built for photo purists.

The promise here is consistency across all three lenses. It doesn’t matter if you’re shooting on the main, telephoto, or ultra-wide lens, because you get pretty much the same detail and color accuracy. We’re currently putting the Pro Max model through a more comprehensive review, so stay tuned for our full verdict on its camera performance and overall capabilities.

During a preview event in the Philippines last week, OPPO gave us an early look at both the standard Find X10 and the Find X10 Pro Max. We spent the evening testing the latter’s low-light chops in a dimly lit restaurant — the exact kind of moody, problematic lighting where phone cameras typically fall apart, and far removed from the bright sunlight that flatters lesser sensors.

Before pixel-peeping the samples, the hardware itself warrants a closer look. We mentioned the three 200-megapixel sensors earlier, but they aren’t all identical. The telephoto and ultra-wide use Samsung’s popular ISOCELL HP5 sensor, while the main lens gets the brand-new 1/1.28-inch ISOCELL HPC. That sensor uses DeepPix technology to widen dynamic range and clean up signal processing. Ideally, you end up with brighter highlights, denser shadows, and way less noise in high-contrast scenes. OPPO even upgraded the 50-megapixel front camera with a wider 18mm focal length, allowing you to fit more of your surroundings into the frame.

Now that we have the hardware specs out of the way, let’s look at the actual photos we took during the preview event. Anybody can take a decent picture in a bright park, but a dark and moody dining room is where a camera phone really proves itself.

When you get up close to this dessert plate, you can see how naturally the background blurs. Instead of that jagged digital cutout effect you often get around tricky edges, the blur looks smooth. The fine details are spot on, too. You can make out the dusted specks on the macaron and the glossy shine of its filling. We also think that Hasselblad’s color tuning helps to keep things looking real, so the white shell stays pure white instead of turning a weird cool blue, while the garnish keeps its natural warmth. The OPPO Find X10 Pro Max even handles the harsh lighting perfectly without washing out bright spots or turning shadows into a muddy mess.

Moving to wider interior shots, the Find X10 Pro Max shows impressive tonal handling. It doesn’t aggressively flatten the image with over-processed HDR tricks. Shadows fall naturally on the subjects in front, but you still get clear highlights on the paper walls and glass tumblers in the background. It also nails the room’s warm glow, as opposed to overcorrecting everything to look like cold daylight, which keeps everyone’s skin tones looking lifelike. Not to mention, you’ll hardly find any grain or digital noise even in the deepest shadows.

Taking a shot of the kitchen staff at work is a great stress test for how fast the camera reacts and how it handles weird lighting. Even with those warm overhead lights that usually make everyone look red, the skin tones here stay natural. It also manages the harsh reflections off the stainless steel pots perfectly, avoiding those distracting lens flares or blown-out bright spots. The whole image just looks natural. You even get the real motion blur of the tongs mid-action while the background stays incredibly sharp, and it does it all without adding fake-looking processed edges.

Getting up close to these braided stalks really shows off how sharp this lens actually is. The fibers keep their natural color shifts, and you can see every single crisp strand. It avoids that over-sharpened look you get on so many other flagship phones right now. The background blur separates the subject admirably, relying on actual optics instead of inconsistent software tricks.

We also played around with OPPO’s signature XPAN mode in the wide kitchen area, and that cinematic crop looks fantastic. The bigger 200-megapixel sensor shows its worth here. It captures the warm amber wood counters and the dark staff uniforms accurately. The camera handles the tricky low-light conditions like a champ, keeping those bright hanging lights from glaring while letting the shadows fade naturally across the back of the room.

For our final shot, we took a picture of this ruby-red Michelin trophy against some cool blue background lights to test how the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max handles contrasting colors. The red stays rich without washing out the acrylic’s smooth feel. It also keeps those bright edge reflections under control. The blurred lights in the background turn into nice soft circles, making this a solid finish for our low-light test.

Initial impressions

The OPPO Find X10 Pro Max isn’t just playing a numbers game with its unprecedented triple 200-megapixel array; it seems to deliver a remarkably mature imaging experience. By pairing Hasselblad’s color science with a camera setup that respects natural optical bokeh and deep shadow retention, the company’s latest flagship avoids the hyper-processed, artificial look that plagues many modern smartphones.

And if these challenging low-light samples are any indication, OPPO has built a device that actually respects real-world lighting and the intent of the photographer. That combination makes it a top contender for anyone who really cares about mobile photography.

The OPPO Find X10 Pro Max with 16GB of physical RAM and 512GB of internal storage carries a suggested retail price of ₱129,999 (around $2,054) in the Philippines. For those ready to make the jump, preorders are open until Dec. 3 across the OPPO Online Store, Shopee, and the brand’s physical concept stores. Early buyers also get a stack of freebies, including Enco X3s earbuds, a 5,000mAh magnetic powerbank, an extended warranty, and a steep discount on the Hasselblad Teleconverter Kit.
