The Huawei Nova 2 Lite is now up for preorder in the Philippines and will be available from March 24. But if you think the P9,990 (roughly ($192) smartphone is the most affordable 18:9 offering from the China-based OEM, you may be wrong.

A new leak suggests the Huawei Enjoy 8E will go on sale in its native Chinese market from March 30. The alleged price? A very reasonable 1,099 yuan, which converts to about P9,055 or $174. If the information provided is accurate, the Enjoy 8E will be the cheapest point of entry for consumers who simply want a tall, trendy screen and enough muscle under the hood to breeze through general tasks like web browsing and some light to medium gaming.

Inside, it’s likely that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor runs the show, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. As you might recall, the Snapdragon 430 is the same processor that’s in the Nova 2 Lite. The phone likewise touts as much memory as the Huawei Enjoy 8E.

In terms of outward appearance, both devices are nearly identical — slim bezels on the front; two rear-facing cameras arranged horizontally and positioned next to the flash module; a fingerprint reader around the back; physical buttons along the right-hand edge. One possible difference is that the Enjoy 8E has a smaller, 5.7-inch display, which outputs a native 1,440 x 720 picture.
The Enjoy 8E, if released in the Philippines, could retail for a bit under P9,000 ($172). That would make it competitive with rival budget devices from big companies, but at the risk of letting it eat into the sales of Huawei’s own Nova 2 Lite.
